On Saturday September 13th, I was honored to be included in the "Made in New York- Best of NYC Indie Animation" the Metrograph theater in Lower Manhattan. The program was curated by Signe Baumane and Bill Plympton and included 15 award-winning shorts, spanning over the past 50 or so years! It was a sold out audience who reacted warmly to the films and the q&a afterwards
Personally I was thrilled to see "A Warm Reception in LA" on the big screen again. And I was surprised so many of my colleagues and members of the audience hadn't seen it before
It was the first indy film Buzzco Associates made, soon after our founding and our first collaboration with composer Lanny Meyers. It was also a breakthrough film in 1987-- which inspired both more work for us and many imitators afterwards. And it was responsible for my inclusion into the Academy.
And I was thrilled that a still from Warm Reception was chosen to illustrate the program at the Metrograph!
