Mother-Goosing the News

Mother-Goosing the News is a series of political cartoons. Originally inspired by the events of September 11, 2001, we needed to comment on the saber rattling-- could war not be inevitable? In any case, we rediscovered the gratification of political cartooning and created 3 Blind Mice.

Then came the Enron scandal. And Sing a Song of Sixpence...

We took a break from politics but then came the summer of 2011: the Republicans held America hostage in Congress, stories of financial greed and inequity filled the newspapers and the Occupy Wall Street movement started. We couldn’t just sit back and watch—we needed to add to the political discourse.

So we revived our Mother-Goosing the News and added 7 more political cartoons created every couple of weeks between August and November of 2011.

When I created these pieces I could never have envisioned how the world devolved since then. We are on the precipice of a choice between autocracy and democracy. Science and science deniers. A world-wide pandemic couldn't even unite us. One day I'll find my voice again.
