George Guzman, the art director at Nick Jr was so impressed by our Nick Jr Show and Tell interstitials that he commissioned Buzzco to do a series of ID's based on their famous orange logos.
To add some excitement to the project, he requested they be done in clay. Because they were bas-relief designs, we were comfortable creating them in a combination of traditions - including cel, replacement clay and computer techniques. The end result was a unique look and all at Nickelodeon were thrilled!
At first I thought George Guzman was crazy coming to us for clay animation! But because the clay figures were not in the round, but more like a bas-relief, we were able to have Vinny animate the characters on paper-- use that as a guide and build the Sculpy from them. And since I'm doing this from memory, I believe that we came up with the sound tracks in-house by Nouri Zander's inventiveness!
