June 13, 2008: I won the 2008 Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Children’s Series for my contribution to "Between the Lions"' Polly and the Pirate segments.
By serendipitous circumstances, I attended the national Daytime Emmy Awards with most of the Between the Lions team, which was presented at the Rose Hall Jazz Center in New York City on June 13th, 2008. When the award was announced, I was able to be on stage with the winning team to receive the Emmy in person and celebrate with almost the whole gang!
I am extremely grateful to WGBH Boston, Mississippi Public Broadcasting, Sirius Thinking and everyone at Between the Lions for their support and generosity. It has been a real delight working on this worthwhile, wonderful children’s show!
And, in fact, these days (a couple decades later) when I wear Between the Lions fleece, folks in their twenties light up when they see the logo and say "It was my FAVORITE show when I was a kid!"
