Miracle on Central Park West was completed just as COVID shutdown festivals and theaters worldwide. As a result, it was shown virtually its first 2 forays out:
September 30, 2020: Miracle on Central Park West was selected for the 2020 Woodstock Film Festival which went virtual in 2020, but they included it in their short film showing.
Then Miracle on Central Park West won the Director's Choice Award at the Thomas Edison Black Maria Festival and on Saturday evening, February 27th, at 7:00pm, the Glen Rock Arts Council hosted a virtual custom-curated program featuring selections from the Thomas Edison Film Festival 40th anniversary season. At 8:15pm I joined Festival Director Jane Steuerwald in a discussion about the films and my work.
On November 9, 2021 Miracle on Central Park West was selected for the NYPauseFilmFestival.
It was scheduled for the exact same time as Wish on the Moon premiered at the Greenwich Village Film Festival, which I had already accepted to accompany producer Jamie deRoy, but luckily Linda Simensky (animation guru) and Leon Joosen (who created the background sculptures) were able to attend the Alamo Drafthouse theater in Brooklyn and said it was very well received!
Finally, on June 2, 2022, I did get to see it on the big screen! It won the prize for writing at the ASIFA-East’s 52nd Annual Animation Awards Ceremony held at the Museum of the Moving Image. It was a great show-- ASIFA-East's first get-together since COVID-- a wonderful audience and a remarkably beautifully curated awards reel-- there wasn't a clunker in them! The reception had yummy snacks and it was just fun to see so many friends I haven't seen forever.
June 2, 2022:At the first in-person festival since 2020, ASIFA-East held the ceremony at the fabulous Museum of the Moving Image! And,
It was great seeing old friends in person for the first time since COVID, and the Museum was welcoming and wonderful. And the icing on the cake-- Miracle on Central Park West won the writing prize!
And on Thursday, August 11, 2022: We Like 'Em Short Festival in Oregon! So happy it's finally having a live audience!!
