MTV's sister channel, Nickelodeon, was getting a facelift. Fred/Alan devised a new logo for Nick-- the only constant being an orange background that ends with their trademarked name. They put the offer out to animation studios to come up with animation, animating to the sound track created by producer Tom Pomposello.
Then they came back to us to create burp.
I remember suggesting origami to Fred Seibert and he said- great! Kids hate it!
It took about 6 or 7 hours to animate the origami shapes under the camera (I practiced each shape often before the shoot date) and I worked to read soundtrack dope sheets to know how many frames I had to create each shape. The fun part was scrunching up the paper in the end!
Burp was just silly.
