Inspired by our work for MTV, VH-1 commissioned Buzzco to create bumpers and logo animation.
As MTV grew its fanbase, they noticed there were performers who didn't fit into their vibe and they wanted another video channel.
Dale Pon and his partner George Lois were tasked with the branding. The first image they came up with is the pointing finger, signifying ONE. We were asked to come up with ideas for Station ID's. Drawing the 3 spots was no problem to create the storyboards, but once awarded, would we need to hire hand models? We didn't. I played the "girl hand." Having never had long fingernails (interfering with holding pencils), Marilyn Kraemer doubled as manicurist, attaching red fingernails to my fingers and filing them to look natural. Our photographer, Gil Ortiz, played the "boy hand". He set the stage and lights at his studio and we shot the spots.
Blast From the Past was an intro to retro videos.
